Things I've learned so far...

Well, I'm 8 weeks into this whole parenthood thing and needless to say, I've learned a lot.  The main thing is what exactly is and isn't necessary for a baby.  The whole baby industry reminds me of the wedding industry.  They will make you think you need WAY more than you actually do.  No one would be able to afford children if you really needed everything that is on the "What to register for" lists.  No, Target, my baby does not need two snowsuits.  Somehow, we have managed two months without two snowsuits! Here are my other findings:

1. Burp cloths - We have returned to buy more burp cloths twice.  With a pukey baby, I am amazed at how fast the neatly folded pile of clean ones disappears.  Now, they simply go from the dryer to the hamper, with a quick pit stop on my shoulder.

2. Socks - I'm not sure why I thought we need so many pairs of socks.  This will probably change once she starts crawling, but for now, we are way overstocked.  She has managed to spit up on them once or twice, but that doesn't mean we need 20 pairs of teeny socks!

3. Pants - Pants for infants are way overrated, especially when using cloth diapers.  Molly lives in either onesies and socks or sleep-n-plays.  Pants, while cute, are such a pain for diaper changes.  Plus, in order to fit over her big butt of a diaper, she has to wear a bigger size, which are then an inch too long.

4. Newborn sized onesies - Again, with the giant diaper, there are useless.

5. Washcloths - With the amount of milk that doesn't make it to her stomach, we go through lots of washcloths too.

6. Blankets - Especially the easily washable kind.  Being winter, she always has one, but it doesn't take long to fill the hamper with them.

And finally, here is my little darling.  Almost two months old already!

And here she is sporting her Creighton pride at a reception for accepted students from Sacramento that my parents and I did.  I think she won over some potential bluejays :-)
